August 2003 Small Firm Practice Management Committee By Edwin J. Kliegman Herbert Schoenfeld was the guest speaker at the Small Firm Practice Management Committee’s monthly meeting on July 2. Schoenfeld, of Schoenfeld Mendelsohn Goldfarb LLP in Woodbury, N.Y., gave an update on practice management, with tips and information on many key practice management issues facing sole practitioners and small firms. Schoenfeld spoke in detail about billing and collections, hiring and termination, training, work-paper techniques, marketing and public relations. He provided members with handouts outlining key issues discussed during the hour-and-a-half presentation. Schoenfeld ended the presentation by taking questions from the members who participated in further group discussions. Attendees earned one CPE credit. The committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month and welcomes new members.
