Leadership Academy Visits Tax Commissioner in Albany

By Sheila B. Griffiths

Members of the NYSSCPA Leadership Academy recently visited Albany to meet with Arthur J. Roth, New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance, and his staff. Holly Chamberlain, special assistant to the commissioner, greeted the Society members and each department head gave an overview of his or her area's various functions. Topics included the budget process, tax tribunal, collections, and outreach.

During lunch, Roth discussed his job responsibilities, commended his staff, and answered questions from Society members. Roth praised the attendees for their extensive knowledge and encouraged them to continue in accounting and to follow their dreams. Each attendee received a personal photo taken with the commissioner.

The Leadership Academy was established in 199? to encourage the profession's future leaders. Sixteen academy members, including Leadership Academy Steering Committee Chair Francis T. Nusspickel, and Society staff attended the Albany meeting. For more information about the Leadership Academy contact Manager of Meetings and Conferences Sheila B.
