CPA Lauded for Extraordinary Service

The Foundation for Accounting Education recently awarded the Excellence in Estate Planning Award to Edward A. Slott for his outstanding service on the Estate Planning Committee and contributions to estate planning within the accounting profession. The award was presented on Tuesday, July 11 at the NYSSCPA Annual Estate Planning Conference.

Slott is a nationally recognized expert on IRA distributions and tax He is an AICPA faculty member who regularly holds professional education seminars on taxes, estate planning, and IRA distribution planning for continuing CPAs, attorneys, financial planners, and other tax professionals at AICPA national conferences. Mr. Slott is a past chair and editor of the Society's Estate Planning Committee and the IRA planning and estates and trusts sections of The CPA Journal. He lectures extensively for the Society and the FAE and has chaired their annual estate planning conferences. Slott has also lectured for the Society's conferences on estate administration, elder care, and the taxation of individuals, as well as for its annual study and annual tax conferences.

Slott is the author of Ed Slott's IRA Advisor and Your Tax Questions Answered (Plymouth Press, 1998). He is a personal finance columnist for Tax Hotline, CNNfn, Financial Planning Magazine, Tax Savings Report, Personal Finance, and Investment News, and is the financial correspondent for News 12 Long Island. A frequent contributor to The CPA Journal, The Practical Accountant, The Tax Adviser and Trusts and Estates.

Slott is a member of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners, the International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP), and the NYSSCPA's Nassau Chapter, where he serves on the Estate Planning Council of New York City.
