June 2003 Mid-Hudson
Chapter By Deborah L. Bailey-Browne, Mid-Hudson Chapter President As the new president of the New York State Society of CPAs’ Mid-Hudson Chapter, I am very much looking forward to this upcoming year. It is an important time for us as certified public accountants and business professionals. I feel privileged not only to be part of the NYSSCPA, but also to volunteer and contribute to the ever-changing dynamics of the business community and our profession. The business challenges and issues of the past decade have changed. However, these changes have presented new challenges and exciting opportunities. As members of the Mid-Hudson Chapter, we need each and every one of you to participate, collaborate and advocate. In order to advance our profession and exceed our client’s expectations, we need to work together to promote ideas and legislation that will assist our clients and address the current needs of the economic climate. The upcoming year should be an exiting opportunity to take advantage of high-caliber continuing professional education, social/networking opportunities, young CPA events, advocating opportunities, and numerous other program and service opportunities. Don’t miss out. Information regarding the NYSSCPA and Mid-Hudson Chapter events and activities may be accessed online at www.nysscpa.org and in The Trusted Professional’s Chapter Newsletters section. When accessing the home page, click on the “Find Chapters” link at the left of the page and then on “Mid-Hudson” to obtain the most current information on our chapter. Although I use my favorite quotation often, I will use it again here. As Walter Cronkite said, “I can’t imagine a person becoming a success who doesn’t give this game of life everything he’s got.” Make sure you give yourself everything you can. Be sure to take advantage of the NYSSCPA’s Mid-Hudson Chapter, utilizing the opportunities and benefits for yourself both personally and for your unique business. I thank you in advance for your participation and enthusiasm! Please feel free to contact me to get involved or to assist in any way at 845-567-9000, ext. 238, or DBB@VDDW.com. |
