The more logical structure of the NYSSCPA website's new homepage has made it easier for users to find information, but some members have needed additional guidance. Here are some of the most frequent inquiries regarding the homepage's redesign:

Is there a way to easily and directly access the search page that gives advanced options such as searching only The Trusted Professional or The CPA Journal? I use this function frequently, and the search button on the homepage doesn't immediately permit this.

You can still access the same advanced search page that allows you to limit your search to The Trusted Professional, The CPA Journal, and several other fields. On the homepage's left side, below the general Search button, there are several categories, including Advanced Search. Click on this link to reach the page where you can qualify your search.

I tried to click on the homepage's left side link to the Society's chapters but it would not work. I managed to access chapters through the Society category on the homepage, but why doesn't the direct chapter link work?

It is possible that you did not click on the New York state map, which brings you to the chapters page, but instead clicked on the words "Society Chapters." The words are simply a label, not a link. To reach the chapters page, you need to either click directly on the map or go through the Society category, as you mentioned.

I recently referred a colleague to the Society's website to access the useful list of links to the tax departments for all 50 states, but she advised me later that several links did not work.

After receiving your e-mail, we immediately tested the links on that page, and they all worked. There could be several reasons why your colleague could not access the particular links. The Society does not host these websites; www.nysscpa.org only provides links to them. It is quite possible that the sites' respective servers may have been down, or your colleague's connection may have "timed out" due to traffic congestion (a frequent occurrence on some government sites during the height of tax season).

We encourage your colleague to revisit the page. If she still has a problem, she should try clicking her Refresh/Reload button or contacting the respective state department whose site she could not access. Please continue to notify us of links that do not work.
