Message from the President

By Donald R. Taylor, Syracuse Chapter President

This is my last message as chapter president. I must pass the baton to our incoming President Roger J. Beer, effective June 1. I know Roger has a great year planned for us, and I look forward to continuing my involvement with the chapter at next year’s events. Congratulations to Roger and to our other officers for the 2003-2004 year:

Lauren L. Kincaid, President-Elect
Gail M. Kinsella, Vice President
Michele A. Dickey, Secretary
Heather Losi, Treasurer

Please contact these individuals if you have any questions or ideas for next year, or if you would like to serve on a chapter committee. You can find their contact information by visiting the Syracuse Chapter homepage at www.nysscpa.org.

Also congratulations to David J. Moynihan, my predecessor, who will be serving on the New York State Society of CPAs Board of Directors as chapter representative next year. It is a most deserving appointment, and I am sure he will represent our chapter’s interests well at the state level.

Speaking of next year, the annual golf outing is scheduled for Monday, June 23, at Beaver Meadows, and Madelyn Hornstein has agreed to chair the event once again. Thanks to Madelyn, the golf outing is always one of the premier chapter events, so keep an eye out for the flyer with the details. Hopefully, next year will also bring the return of the Members in Industry Committee. Right now that committee is in the planning stages, and, once organized, information on meeting dates and events will be sent out.

In closing, I would like to thank all of this year’s officers and committee chairs for their support and help during my year as president. I also thank our members for the great turnout that we had at all of our events last year. A special thanks to Anthony T. Abboud and Kari M. Dalton for cochairing the Young CPAs Committee. The Young CPAs had a great year, with numerous new events, including hosting the statewide Young CPAs Forum here in Syracuse, and were able to increase the participation of our younger members. I believe that continuing these types of efforts will bode well for our chapter in the future.
