May 2003 Choosing Your Chapter By Bill Pape, Associate Director, Member Relations Chapter activity represents an important benefit of membership in the New York State Society of CPAs. Hundreds of members from the 17 chapters across New York state are volunteering their time to create more value for your member dollar. Do you know what chapter you belong to? It is an important question, since the answer helps determine how each chapter’s leadership allocates its volunteer and financial resources. NYSSCPA bylaws direct staff to place new members in the chapter nearest where they work. However, members are free to belong to the chapter of their choice. If you would like to change your designated chapter, contact an NYSSCPA member services representative at 800-633-6310 or visit www.nysscpa.org and click on the Change Your Info link under the Member Resources banner to update your records. All Society members are free to attend any chapter event, no matter where it is held. The NYSSCPA website provides information on upcoming chapter events, as does each issue of Chapter Newsletters. |
