SED to Issue Survey on Legislative Proposals

By David Cho

The State Education Department will be issuing a survey to New York CPAs and PAs that asks for feedback on issues that impact the practice of accounting. Included in the survey packet is a summary of provisions contained in recent legislative proposals to amend the public accountancy laws in New York state.

“Because a number of the statements in the cover memorandum present only one side of the issue and could be misleading, we encourage CPAs to learn more about the legislative proposals on our website,” said NYSSCPA Executive Director Louis Grumet.

The Society supports A. 4445 and S. 2456, current bills in the New York Assembly and Senate proposing updates to New York state law modeled after the Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA).

To access information on these bills visit the Legislative Center at www.nysscpa.org or call Dennis O’Leary at (212) 719-8418.
