Conference Promises an In-depth Look at the IRS
By Aysha Livingston
In the wake of the recent IRS restructuring, many tax practitioners could use a paddle. The IRS Practice and Procedure Conference, which will take place on June 26 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, will provide time-saving information to make navigating the waters of the “new” IRS much easier.
“No tax practitioner can afford to miss this conference,” conference Chair Thomas Zick said. “No client can afford to have his or her tax practitioner miss this conference.”
The conference will address various issues, including where, when, and who to contact when an IRS-related problem arises, the latest e-filing techniques, the new IRS website, the impact the IRS restructuring will have on accounting practices, IRS service center operations, and the CPA’s role in the IRS examination process. In addition to Zick, speakers will include Dale Hart, deputy commissioner of the IRS small business/self-employed operating division, and Raymond Wolff, of the IRS appeals field office in New York, which handles so-called SB/SE and TE/GE issues (small business/self-employed operating division and tax-exempt/government entities operating division issues). Wolff will discuss updates to the IRS appeals process and initiatives such as the alternative dispute resolution program.
