New Yorkers Nominated to AICPA Board and CouncilSeven New Yorkers are among the individuals recently nominated to AICPA leadership positions--one to the Institute's board of directors, two as Council members at-large, and four as New York Council representatives. The AICPA nominated New Yorker Robert K. Herdman, a partner with Ernst & Young LLP, to its board of directors. The at-large Council nominations went to NYSSCPA members Allen Boston and David A. Lifson. Boston, a partner with Ernst & Young LLP, has served on the Society's Minority Recruitment and Equal Opportunity Committee and Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) advisory board. Lifson, a partner with Hays & Co., currently chairs the AICPA's Tax Executive Committee. Under his leadership, the AICPA empowered the tax division to issue enforceable technical tax standards. In addition, when faced with the elimination of all but two tax committees, Lifson negotiated a restructuring that met the needs of both the AICPA leadership and his division. He is an active Society member and has served as vice president, board member, and chair or member of numerous committees. The AICPA accepted NYSSCPA President Alan E. Weiner's nominations for the four New York Council representatives: Joseph L. Charles, Jeffrey R. Hoops, Henry J. Krostich, and Nancy Newman-Limata. Weiner broke from the tradition of nominating past Society presidents to Council. Charles, a partner with Fust Charles Chambers LLP, has served as the NYSSCPA Syracuse Chapter president and held numerous other chapter leadership positions. He also has been active in the Society at the statewide level and served as secretary, board member, FAE trustee, and a member of numerous committees. Hoops, a partner with Ernst & Young LLP, currently is a member of the Society's Tax Division Oversight Committee. He has served as vice president, board member, and chair or member of numerous committees. He also has served as Nassau Chapter president and held various chapter leadership positions. Krostich, a partner with Krostich & Krostich CPAs, currently chairs the Society's Peer Review Committee. He also recently completed a term on the AICPA's Peer Review Board. Newman-Limata, a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, will begin her term as NYSSCPA president-elect on June 1. She currently serves as a vice president; board member; FAE trustee; chair of the Chapter Relations Committee; and member of the Executive, Finance, and Committee Operations committees. She has served as chair or member of numerous other committees. * |
