New FAE Rules and Administrative Procedures

As the Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) revamps its educational programming, the New York State Society of CPAs’ Board of Directors and the FAE Board of Trustees have instituted new rules and procedures pertaining to the registration and delivery of FAE’s continuing professional education (CPE) courses and events.

These rules and procedures are designed to help keep FAE’s expenses to a minimum while ensuring that Society members and attendees experience the highest quality CPE events available at prices that are affordable.

Though the Society and the Foundation encourage all members and CPE registrants to review the new rules and procedures regarding FAE’s educational offerings, there are certain items and changes that are particularly noteworthy. These include the following:

• If at least two weeks prior to a CPE course eight people or more are registered, FAE will not cancel the event.
  
• Individuals who register for an event on the date of the program will be charged an additional $25 fee. Individuals who claim to already have registered and paid for the event will be asked to provide a photo ID and a credit card, which will be charged for the cost of the program as well as the additional $25 fee if it is discovered that they have not paid.
  
• FAE allows a registrant to transfer to another program or substitute another person without a penalty more than two weeks prior to the program date. Transfers and substitutions requested less than two weeks to the program date will be charged a $25 processing fee.
  
• No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than two weeks prior to the program date. A $25 processing fee will be charged for cancellations received more than two weeks prior to the program date.
  
• The registration fee for evening technical sessions will run between $45 and $55.
  
• One-hour CPE committee sessions are free.
  
• Pay-One-Price (POP) participants must register with a POP coupon at least seven business days in advance of the program date. POP participants will not be admitted as walk-ins. A $25 processing fee will be charged to POP participants who cancel more than two weeks prior to the program date. POP participants who cancel less than two weeks before the program date will forfeit their coupon.
