The System Administraton, Networking, and Security Institute: www.sans.org

The System Administration, Networking and Security (SANS) Institute, founded in 1989, is a cooperative research and education organization through which more than 156,000 security professionals, auditors, system administrators and network administrators share the lessons they learn and find solutions to the challenges they face. Security practitioners in government agencies, corporations and universities make up the core of the Institute.

The SANS community supports various programs and products, including in-depth education, breaking news, special research projects and publications. Many SANS resources, such as news digests, research summaries, security alerts and papers, are free to the public. Income from printed publications funds university-based research programs. The Institute’s Global Information Assurance Certification program is funded by its own certification process; special research projects and the SANS Training program are funded by income from SANS educational programs.
