Website's Student Section RedesignedTo strengthen programs and services for accounting students, the NYSSCPA recently redesigned and updated the For Future CPAs section of www.nysscpa.org. "Keeping the accounting profession vibrant requires attracting bright, motivated, quality- and integrity-minded people," NYSSCPA Executive Director Louis Grumet said. "The For Future CPAs area of our website is one way to connect with potential CPA candidates and offer them helpful resources." On the area's main page, users will find information about upcoming events such as career fairs and seminars; news and articles from various publications of interest to future CPAs; and links to New York state colleges, universities, and school accounting clubs. Information on how to use the website to develop an online accounting club is also available. The section features details about other Society programs for students such as the Career Opportunities Handbook, a directory of small and medium-sized firms from the New York state area, and the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship. In addition to resources for college accounting students, For Future CPAs features a section dedicated to the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession program (COAP). COAP is centered around a week-long college residency session where high-school minority students interact with successful minority role models, hone their accounting-related skills through a carefully tailored curriculum, and learn about career opportunities. The COAP section includes detailed information about the program, interviews with COAP alumni, and a photo gallery. To access the redesigned section, select For Future CPAs in the About the Society section on the homepage's Find It Fast menu. The Society's website team is committed to continually improving this section and welcomes any comments or suggestions. Contact Kyle Booth at (212) 719-8324, (800) 633-6320, or kbooth@nysscpa.org. |
