Westchester CPAs Train Social Workersto Help Welfare-to-Work Recipients
Two dozen social services workers from the county's White Plains office attended the two-hour session on the earned income credit, developed and led by chapter member E.J. Nedder. The employees who participated will share tips with the 300 other county social services workers who will in turn help educate welfare-to-work recipients. "This program demonstrates the civic-minded spirit of our CPAs and positively promotes the profession as a whole," chapter President Sandra Napoleon-Hudson said. "Our chapter has a history of public service activities to help local government: Assisting in the Westchester 2000 economic development program, conducting small business seminars, and providing counsel to county government on sales tax and other issues are just a few initiatives. Our involvement in the welfare-to-work program is the latest example of our local CPAs in action." The chapter's current program resulted from a meeting between Urban League member Robert Greenburg and Anne Colucci, an NYSSCPA Westchester Chapter board member. In addition to Colucci, Napoleon-Hudson, and Nedder, the chapter acknowledges members Barbara Bel, John Irby, Angelo Liberati, Jake Meyer, and Jonas Schiff for volunteering their time.
