Q. I’ve just become a member of the NYSSCPA and would like to participate in one or two committees. I was wondering whether nysscpa.org has a page where I can find out about the activities of the different committees.

A. Each committee has its own page on nysscpa.org. To get to the committee directory, click on Committees in the left-hand column of the home page. You can then click on the Meetings, Events, Forums, Members, and Calendar buttons at the top of the individual committee pages to learn more about the activities and members of a given committee.

Q. I wanted to look someone up in the online member directory, but I didn’t know his CPA certificate number, and I wasn’t sure what chapter he belongs to. Is there any other way to find out his e-mail address from your website?

A. As long as you know the person’s last name, you don’t need to input a chapter or certificate number. For example, if you wanted to look up John Doe, you would type “Doe” in the box opposite Last Name and then click on Search! If one or more members have the last name Doe, a listing of those members will automatically appear. Similarly, if you wanted to know who belongs to a certain chapter but you didn’t have anyone’s name in mind, you would select a chapter from the box opposite Associated Chapter and then click on Search! to get an automatic listing of everyone who belongs to the chapter you selected.
