Society Website Provides Online Index
By Cori L. Gabbard
The Society’s website now features an alphabetical index of the terms and categories found online at www.nysscpa.org. Like the search, advanced search, and site map tools, the alphabetical index is designed to facilitate navigation of the site, which comprises more than 6,000 pages. At the same time, the new index has unique capabilities, providing surfers with another strategy for becoming familiar with the Society’s online presence.
According to website Managing Editor Kyle Booth, the alphabetical index provides a means for searching the Society’s website that can be useful to all visitors. With links to every page, the index offers a comprehensive overview of the website. And because it is a tool for browsing—easily navigating back and forth between links and the index—visitors can use the index successfully without having a specific topic or keyword in mind.
“The nysscpa.org staff has tried to provide enough search methods so that anyone, regardless of context, will be able to find what he or she is looking for on the site,” Booth said. “A visitor can scroll the list of topics and keywords in much the same way an index in a book would be used. But with this index, the user can click on any entry and go directly to the corresponding page.”
