Tri-State Tax Conference Draws 160 Attendees

More than 160 CPAs and other financial professionals attended FAE's Tri-State Tax Conference held on January 13 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City. The NYSSCPA Interstate Taxation Committee, chaired by Nicholas Nesi, sponsored the conference and Nesi served as conference chair.

Numerous sessions concerning Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York state taxation allowed attendees to focus on topics specific to their individual concerns. In addition to Nesi and committee member Alan Preis, faculty included Glenn Newman, of Roberts & Holland LLP, and Louis Schatz, of Shipman & Goodwin LLP. Luncheon speaker Arthur R. Rosen, of McDermont Will & Emery, discussed state tax implications of electronic commerce and offered insights on possible future developments in this area.

The afternoon session featured speakers from government, including New Jersey Deputy Tax Director Harold Fox, Connecticut Tax Commissioner Gene Gavin, New York State Deputy Tax Commissioner Robert Gola, and New York City Assistant Deputy Tax Commissioner Jonathan Robin, who each discussed their department's recent and upcoming programs and initiatives. *
