Disclosure Issues for High-Tech Companies

By Bruce H. Nearon

Are you interested in high-tech companies? Do you work for one, or invest in them? Perhaps your clients are high-tech companies or work closely with them. Whatever the case may be, if you have any affiliation with high-tech companies, you may want to consider attending the Feb. 4, 2003, continuing professional education (CPE) morning presentation on disclosure issues for these companies, organized by the New York State Society of CPAs’ Technology Assurance (TA) Committee.

High-tech companies must comply with all traditional disclosures. Additionally, these companies have unique disclosure requirements that address exposures, risks and capital outlays. Understanding these disclosure requirements is essential to assessing a high-tech company as an employee, investor or professional advisor to the high-tech industry.
The presentation will cover the following topics:

  • Current status of financial statement disclosure requirements
  • Financial statement disclosure issues
  • Future requirements
