Society Establishes Tax Simplification Task Force

The New York State Society of CPAs is looking for members to join a task force that will pose suggestions and comments on the U.S. tax code.

The task force, which will be chaired by Alan E. Weiner, will have nine members.

“We’re not going to come up with proposals for Congress, but we’re going to let our voices be heard,” Weiner said. “If people are interested in serving on the committee, we’d like all segments of the Society represented.”

The task force will focus on federal tax law, with an emphasis on simplification of definitions, exceptions and the overall complexities of the tax code. The task force will likely become active after April 15.

Anyone interested in joining the task force should contact Ernest Markezin, associate director for committee services, at (212) 719-8303 or emarkezin@nysscpa.org.
