Society Hosts Newly Licensed CPAs and NYC Members at Open House
The Society invited members in the New York City area, which is not organized as a chapter, to the reception to give them an opportunity to connect with Society leaders. The informal meeting included presentations similar to the officers visitation meetings held by the chapters. Weiner presented an overview of Society programs and initiatives including the political action committee, the NYSSCPA Hall of Fame, and the CPA license plate. Sokolski discussed the bills pending before the New York State Legislature that seek to reform the state's 52-year-old accountancy law. Newman-Limata gave a demonstration of the Society's website. "This informal gathering was a great way to familiarize aspiring professionals with Society programs and services tailored to meet their needs," said Kriete, who is an alumnus of the Leadership Academy, created a few years ago to develop the next generation of NYSSCPA leaders. "They were especially interested in learning about our diverse committee structure and other networking opportunities." * |
