Walk for the Cure to Take Place in October

By Pat Wright

On Oct. 17, 2004, the members of the Brooklyn Chapter of the NYSSCPA raised money and walked for a cure for breast cancer. This fall, on Oct. 16 the Brooklyn Chapter will again participate in this annual tradition where thousands of committed well-wishers and survivors walk in Prospect Park in Brooklyn to raise money to help fund this much-needed cause.

A kick-off breakfast was held at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel on Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Volunteers who have established teams from all over Brooklyn, together with sponsors, made commitments to raise as much money as possible before the day of the walk. I invite every member of our chapter to make a monetary pledge to this very important cause. As we all know, cancer is no respecter of persons, and possibly has touched the life of someone you know.

Please contact the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or send your check directly to ACS, Eastern Division, 31 Washington Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, or call 718-237-7850 for more information. Please indicate on your check or in your letter that you are an NYSSCPA Brooklyn Chapter member. Also, feel free to contact me at p_wright@starrllc.com or pat.wright6@verizon.net for further information.

We hope you will join us in finding a cure.
