Message From the President By Robert R. Ritz, Utica Chapter President I hope everyone had a great summer. I know summer is starting its second half: the Boilermaker has come and gone. I actually wasn’t able to participate in this year’s Boilermaker (by participate I mean cheering on the runners and enjoying the post-race party, not actually running the race), as it coincided with the start of the fourth annual NYSSCPA leadership conference. The conference took place at The Sagamore on Lake George, and brought together members from the State Society level along with leaders of the local chapters. I was joined by Dave Wojnas, Utica president-elect, and Eileen Hamlin, our Young CPAs Committee chair. We met many other members who share the same goals as we do: to enhance the public perception of our profession, and to make sure we have the best candidates in place to lead us through the 21st century. To help make this happen, our chapter is planning a trip to a local high school to show the future graduates that the accounting profession can lead to a rewarding and exciting future. If anyone is interested in offering assistance, the board would greatly appreciate it. We have openings on all of our committees: Young CPAs, Members in Industry and Annual Golf Outing. We can also start new committees if there are any members willing to chair them. Please let me know if these leadership opportunities interest you. I hope to meet you at our upcoming events.
