Summer Options

By Gail Kinsella, Syracuse Chapter President

As August arrives, I know many of us are starting to think about all the things left to fit into summer. I have a friend who often comments on how the first of August marks the end of summer. I, of course, disagree!

Looking for options? You may be considering the Great New York State Fair or perhaps a jaunt to the lake. I would urge you to add the Annual Summer Sizzler to your calendar. This year’s event is set for August 17 at Hinerwadel’s Grove on Taft Road in North Syracuse. Plan to attend CPE presented by Anthony Marshall, an attorney with Harris Beach. Tony will share with us the intricacies of new market credits, with a clambake to follow the CPE presentation. Registration information can be found at www.nysscpa.org. Please contact our chapter’s CPE Committee chair John Markert (jemcpa@sirchiacuomo.com) with questions. If you are unable to attend the CPE, do plan to join us for the clambake.

Another August event is the annual Young CPAs Forum, being held this year in Albany. This two-day conference opportunity is designed to provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas, technical training and professional development for our “young” members. Stay tuned for information on upcoming events for our local young CPAs, as well as the not-so-young!
