Enjoying the Season

It’s hard to believe that we are in August already. It’s the lazy, hazy days of summer, and, best of all, track season at Saratoga! I hope all of you are enjoying your summer, and perhaps we’ll run into each other at the track.
The Northeast Chapter held our second COAP program the week of June 27 to July 1. This year’s class graduated 23 students, which is a significant increase from last year’s total of eight graduates. On behalf of the Executive Committee, I would like to thank all those involved with making this year’s program a success. A special thank-you goes out to Dr. Len Stokes, from Siena College, for coordinating and running our program. I am continually amazed at what can be accomplished with the efforts of our members, particularly when it comes to students!
In addition, thanks to those of you who attended our annual Golf Tournament and Installation Dinner and contributed to our chapter’s scholarship in memory of Timothy N. O’Connor. As a result of your generosity, we will be awarding one of our COAP graduates a scholarship toward a college prep course. The student will be selected in August and invited to our Officers Visitation dinner in early fall. Thank you again to all of you who contributed to the scholarship fund, and thank you to Ron Guzior for chairing this event.
On another exciting note, our chapter will be hosting the Young CPA Forum on August 15 and 16 at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center. Kevin O’Leary and the other committee members have put together a great program that is sure to benefit our young CPAs.
Although summer tends to be a time of relaxation, the Executive Committee and Board Members of our chapter continue to meet and plan events for the upcoming year. If you have suggestions for the Northeast Chapter, particular programs you would like to see offered, or would like to become involved, please do not hesitate to contact me.
