Web Notes By Craig Mandelbaum, NYSSCPA.org Web Manager This month we take a look at two new web pages for upcoming CPE courses. The FAE Summer 2004 Industry Courses page at www.nysscpa.org/faeorg/summer_courses2004/main.htm, previews courses aimed at industry CPAs. On this page, users can find biographies and photos of speakers; dates; times and locations of each course; complete brochures, and links to sign up either online or by downloading a registration form. Industry course speakers include: John P. Barden, CPA, CFE, who will speak at FAE’s Controllers Workshop; Dennis J. Gerschick, a CPA, attorney and chartered financial analyst, who will speak on “Going Public and Going Private” and “Workouts, Turnarounds, and Restructurings,” and Lin Kroeger, a management consultant, who will speak on “Leadership in Fast-Moving Organizations” and “Message-Based Communication.” The other web page, FAE Summer 2004 Speakers, at www.nysscpa.org/faeorg/summer_courses2004/2004speakers.htm, is broken into three categories: “Specialized Knowledge,” “Taxation,” and “Accounting and Auditing.” On this page, like the industry course page, users can find information on speakers, dates, times and locations, as well as links to view complete brochures and register both online and by mail or fax. Among the summer 2004 speakers are: Mel Crystal, CPA, who will speak at FAE’s Ethics Update 2004; Daniel M. Fordham, CPA, who will speak at FAE’s New York state Empire Zones, and Mark Gorman, CPA, who will speak at FAE’s Business Writing for Accountants. By the Numbers The Society website in June again posted strong numbers in almost every category. For the month, the site recorded 5,566,997 hits, an all-time record, breaking April 2004’s mark by more than 200,000 hits. The site also recorded 825,472 views, the second-highest since November 2002, and 203,848 visits, the third-highest ever. Please visit the NYSSCPA website at www.nysscpa.org. |
