Time to Recharge

TGIF: Thank God it’s finally over (tax season, that is). Now is the time to recharge our batteries and look to the year ahead. As your new president, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the chapter on a highly successful Installation Dinner. We had over 100 people attend the gala, which was held at the Excelsior Grand. A special thanks goes to outgoing president Anthony Tanzi for chairing this event. He did an outstanding job. A performance of “Joe and Mary’s Irish-Italian Comedy Wedding” was enjoyed by all.

I would like to thank the incoming officers—President-Elect Mark Weg, Vice President Mark Fappiano, Treasurer Curt Philipczak and Secretary Charles Weintraub—as well as executive board members Dennis N. Annarumma, Rosemarie A. Barnickel, Gerard J. LoVerde and Anthony J. Tanzi for their commitment to the chapter.

We had our first board meeting on Tuesday, May 17, at the Golden Dove Diner. A full slate of events for the coming year has been scheduled. Some of the highlights for the coming year include our all-day tax seminar, scheduled for November 12. Our annual golf outing, which is a good opportunity for members to network with clients in an informal setting, is set for September 23 at the South Shore Country Club, with a barbecue to follow.

We plan to continue the high school outreach program, which is designed to inform and encourage students at the various Staten Island high schools about careers in the accounting profession. Charles Weintraub is the chairman of this program.

As president, I hope to increase the participation of our members at sponsored events by providing quality continuing education programs. My goal is to continue the good works of my predecessors in keeping the chapter strong.
