Don’t Wait for Someone Else

The Adirondack Chapter held its annual golf outing and officers installation in Malone on May 24. Due to the cold, rainy weather, only one foursome braved the elements to play golf. At the dinner, we were joined with NYSSCPA representatives, including George Victor, Bill Pape and Joyce Lewis.
The officers for this year are Barbara Dwyer as Secretary and Patrick Dowdle as Treasurer. Dan Fordham and Mary MacKrell were elected as directors. We have openings for Vice President, President-Elect, and other directors. I encourage volunteers to step up to the plate to keep this young chapter moving forward. Most of the old-timers (like me) remember the days before the Adirondack Chapter when Albany was too long a drive to attend chapter meetings. Let’s not lose the advantage of a local chapter. Consider putting in a little effort to make 2005 a successful year for our chapter. Most of the work can be done in very little time via e-mail and telephone conferences. We would like to have a representative from every geographic location within our chapter. Also, any retired members out there, please consider donating some time to help us this year.
During the annual meeting we came up with some exciting possibilities for meetings or events for this year, which include;
| August: | Saratoga: Day at the races |
| September: | Ethics conference at a new location this year |
| October: | Bankers dinner |
| November: | Tax update Offers in compromise Taxpayer advocate International taxation Patriot Act/work visa, etc. |
| December: | Breakfast MAP Conference: share ideas, problems, solutions and opportunities |
| May or June: | Find that one nice warm sunny day for our golf outing and new officers installation |
Of course we won’t be able to do all of the above or any of it without help, so give us your input today on what you would like to see us doing and volunteer to help organize one of the events. Don’t wait for someone else to do it, because there isn’t anyone else. It’s all about you and what you can do for the chapter. Please help! E-mail me today at doug@adkfamilybusiness.com.
