Society Strengthens Its Employment Services

The New York State Society of CPAs has strengthened its services to members who are either looking to hire or seeking employment.
The new service allows members to post job opportunities and positions wanted at no charge on the Society’s Web site. The new, free service is an expansion of our efforts to assist members with their job searches. Our other employment services include classified listings in The CPA Journal, The Trusted Professional, the Society Web site, the “Career Opportunities Online Handbook,” and www.career.com, our national job search database.
To post a free job opening or a job wanted advertisement, members should first navigate to their chapter homepage from www.nysscpa.org. By default, members’ chapter are based on where they work, but can be changed to any chapter. This is important to note since the free posting is limited to the member’s chapter. If a member wishes to advertise beyond the borders of his chapter, he should consider the classifieds, the Career Opportunities Online Handbook or Career.com.
The job posting service is located on the left-hand corner of each chapter homepage, within the red border. There are three options under the “Help Wanted” heading: “Positions Available,” “Situations Wanted” and “Post a Help Wanted.” If you click on the “Post a Help Wanted” link, you must provide your User ID (member ID) and password. If you have never visited the Member Center before, please note that initially your password is your member ID plus your first and last initial. For example, a person named Robert Smith whose member ID is 123456 will have an initial password as 123456RS.
Once you enter the site, the posting process is fairly intuitive. The posting will remain on the site for 30 days unless you choose to remove it.
