Message From the President By Mark Levy, Mid-Hudson Chapter President As the new president of the Mid-Hudson Chapter, I am very optimistic that our chapter will have a great year. Many members have expressed similar enthusiasm and have offered their help with committee involvement. I feel very fortunate to have the help of our chapter’s officers and an executive board comprised of dedicated individuals who continue to volunteer their time to promote the profession and help make the Mid-Hudson Chapter better each year. I would like to thank our past president, Deborah Bailey-Brown, for her commitment and dedication to our chapter. Accountants are facing challenging times. Not only do we have to keep abreast of changes to the Internal Revenue Code and new auditing standards, but as a profession, we also are trying to maintain our status as the trusted professional. I hope that in the year ahead we can all help make the public aware that, as professionals, we exemplify the highest integrity, and make valuable contributions to our community. Participation in your chapter’s events will help promote our profession, provide networking opportunities, help you grow professionally and improve the local community. If you would like to get involved, or maybe serve on a committee, please feel free to contact me by telephone or e-mail as indicated at the end of this article. The Mid-Hudson Chapter needs your input to ensure that programs we sponsor are responsive to your needs. Increasing communication among chapter members is important. To do this, we will continue to offer Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) breakfasts, where members can come together to discuss topics that concern them the most. As the chapter’s new president, I am exciting to bring to you the “sounding board.” After each MAP breakfast, we have scheduled an executive board meeting. These meetings will offer an opportunity to exchange ideas regarding our chapter’s goals and objectives. Although these meetings serve an administrative purpose, as president I want these meetings to serve as a sounding board for all member’s questions, comments or suggestions—or maybe just an opportunity to get involved. Please mark your calendar for the following events:
As additional events are scheduled, they will be listed in The Trusted Professional and will appear on the Society’s website. I hope to the have the opportunity to get to know more of our chapter’s members during my term as president, and I am looking forward to seeing you all at our events.
