Message From the President By Patricia G. Wright, Brooklyn Chapter President Greetings. Here I am again, after saying good-bye in the May issue of The Trusted Professional. Obviously, my good-bye was not final and I had not finished the work we started. Timothy Quinn, my colleague, had pressing personal matters to attend to, and was unable to fulfill the role of president as planned. So once again, I ask you to journey with me, in year 2004–2005. The Brooklyn Chapter continues its partnership with Long Island University and kicked off COAP week from June 28 through July 2. For COAP week, the NYSSCPA, through its participating chapters, invited high school students whose aspiration leans toward the accounting profession to spend one week learning while being encouraged by members of the profession, who helped motivate them to become future accountants. The bright, young people spent five fun-filled days on the LIU Brooklyn campus, meeting new people, making new friends and visiting accounting and law firms, the SEC and the IRS. It is an exciting time in the life of our young people, and I am thankful for those of you who participated. As the chapter embarks on a new year, the Board and I will endeavor to work with you in providing CPE credits through seminars and to assist where we can in helping the membership grow. We will continue to help identify quality personnel and clientele where needed. As always, our mission is to continue to work with the high schools within our communities to produce CPAs for the future. Please visit our website for updates. And I look forward to hearing from you. Patricia G. Wright can be reached at 212-759-6556, ext. 122, or P_wright@starrllc.com. |
