As a result of a decision by a hearing panel of the Joint Trial Board (composed of members of the American Institute of CPAs and state societies to adjudicate alleged violations of the ethics cods and bylaws), the following members have had their membership in the New York State Society of CPAs terminated:

Laura T. Kirsner, of Kansas City, Mo., effective March 26, 2004
Ms. Kirsner was found guilty of violating AICPA Bylaw 7.4.6 and Rule 506 of the NYSSCPA Code of Conduct by failing to comply with the continuing professional education directive in a letter of required corrective action dated March 5, 2001.

Arthur R. Venezia, of Farmingdale, N.Y., effective June 17, 2004
Mr. Venezia was found guilty of violating AICPA Bylaw 7.4.6 and Rule 506 of the NYSSCPA Code of Conduct by failing to cooperate with the AICPA’s Professional Ethics Division in an investigation of his professional conduct.

Rosario (Roy) Macchiarola, of Melville, N.Y., effective March 16, 2005
An ad hoc committee of the Joint Trial Board denied the request by Mr. Macchiarola for a review of the decision of the original trial board that found Mr. Macchiarola guilty of violating Rule 506 of the NYSSCPA Code of Professional Conduct for failing to comply with the directives that were set forth in a letter of required corrective action issued by the NYSSCPA’s Professional Ethics Committee July 20, 2001.
