My term as president is nearly over. With only two months remaining, I’m still writing a letter that half of you don’t even read! I’m writing this letter on March 16, in the middle of preparing tax returns. How do I find time to sit and contemplate writing? I just do it because I know it has to get done.

I had hopes of making several important changes for the chapter during my term, but change has been really difficult. However, I did reduce the cost of many seminars and gatherings. Maybe you’ve noticed the last few seminars were only $20. I don’t want cost to be an obstacle to your attendance. With full-day events at only $99, our chapter provides some of the best and lowest-priced CPE in the state.

Our chapter had many social events as well. The trips to the Westchester Premier Theatre were only $60, well below cost. Our golf outing, another great event, for which we tried to keep the cost down, has been a sellout.

All these attempts at cost savings were to bring more of our members together, and it seems to be working. Many of our events were sellouts; most had more attendance than in past years. Even attendance at our monthly events (local practitioners, CFOs, etc.) is way up.

All these events could not have happened if not for a great group of people, your officers, board and committees. If you like what’s happening and want to encourage us to continue, come celebrate with us at the Presidents Reception on May 19 at Leewood Country Club. The cost of this event has also been cut to $40, well below last year’s price. Come and show your support for all our efforts and meet us, give me a great “send-off” and don’t forget your Hawaiian shirts.
