Web Notes

This month we take a look at the Society’s chapter websites.

Each of the 17 chapters has its own site, which includes a homepage, meeting notices complete with agendas and minutes, member and officer lists, event listings and calendars, subcommittee listings and newsletters.

Not only do all 17 chapter homepages incorporate similar features, such as a president’s message, news, chapter-related continuing professional education courses, an archive, chapter statistics and links, but they also reflect the particular events and focus of each individual chapter. For instance, the Nassau and Finger Lakes chapters promote their volunteer work through their websites.

Other notable features currently displayed on some of the chapter websites include:

  •  The Suffolk Chapter offers a great deal of committee, officer and event information on its homepage;
  •  The Rochester and Rockland chapters have follow-up articles on recent chapter events;
  •  The Queens Chapter has a website of the month profiled on its homepage;
  •  The Mid-Hudson Chapter offers articles with images on its homepage, as well as information on the Military Income Tax Filing Assistance program; and
  •  The Buffalo Chapter has chapter-specific 2004–2005 Nominating Committee information on its homepage.

To access the chapter sites, click on the “Find Chapters” link on the left-hand side of the Society’s home page at www.nysscpa.org. The “About Us” section at the top of the homepage can also take you to the chapters.

These links take you to the Chapters Main Page, where you can either click on a specific chapter’s text link on the left side of the page, or click on the chapter you want in the color map of New York state. You can also access the Chapters Main Page directly at www.nysscpa.org/chapters.html.

Once in a specific chapter, you can use the “Other Chapters” link on the left side of the page to get back to the Chapters Main Page, where you can select another chapter site.
