Message From the President

By Christine Paul, Northeast Chapter President-Elect

Hello, everyone! Since everyone tends to be busy this time of year and have little time to read anything outside of client workpapers, I will keep this month’s message brief. I want to thank Jeff Randles, chair of our Taxation Committee, for sponsoring the IRS e-Submissions Program in January. Future scheduled events include the Third Annual College Student Night on Feb. 17, and our Not-for-Profit Committee is working on a program for March 17. Please watch The Trusted Professional and your e-mail for additional information regarding this event.

In last month’s column I mention the need for firms and businesses to host our student interns who will participate in this year’s COAP summer program. The application process will begin soon, so if you have an interest in hosting a high school student, please contact me immediately. If you have questions about hosting a student, please let me know and I can put you in contact with a previous host who can share their experience.

Finally, the Northeast Chapter seeks suggestions to fill vacancies on its 2005–2006 Executive Board. The next fiscal year begins June 1, and the Northeast Chapter Nominating Committee welcomes suggestions from members to fill vacancies on the board.

Diversification is of primary importance. Members in public practice, industry, government, nonprofit and education are encouraged to pursue this rewarding opportunity. NYSSCPA members residing in Albany, Schenectady, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties are eligible.

To suggest a member, or to learn more about the opportunities to serve on the Northeast Chapter Executive Board, please contact me at cpaul@luriecpas.com or 518-456-4094. Suggestions are due by Feb. 25.

I look forward to seeing all of you at future events.
