Society Hosts Chinese Delegation

Chinese tax professionals from the Jiangsu Province visited the NYSSCPA on October 9 to learn about tax compliance in the United States. Led by Guan-Rong Mi, director of the Jiangsu Province State Taxation Bureau, the delegation included 25 municipal and provincial tax professionals who were in the United States at the invitation of the Southern Connecticut State University's School of Business and Morgan Pacific Co.

NYSSCPA Executive Director Louis Grumet welcomed the delegation and offered to work with them on a continuing basis.

"Our state society is the largest in the nation, and as we are headquartered in the financial capital of the world, we encourage you to include us in any subsequent visits to the United States," Grumet said. "We would be happy to organize presentations on tax or other technical topics of interest to you and your colleagues in China."

Robert L. Goecks, chair of the Society's Litigation Support Committee, then spoke about tax compliance issues and the role of forensic accounting in United States tax administration.

Zhen Hu of the Bank of New York served as interpreter for the presentations. *
