December 1998 Issue Westchester CPAs Help Local Businesses By Xiomara Fox The NYSSCPA Westchester Chapter is participating in the Westchester Urban Areas Business Assistance Program, sponsored by the Westchester County Association in collaboration with mayors of seven area municipalities. The program works to provide local businesses with information on the latest developments in accounting, business, banking, law, insurance planning, the Internet, electronic commerce, and other areas to encourage success. In addition to seminars on these and related topics, the program will develop an electronic information network consisting of computer terminals with touch screen kiosks. The kiosks will feature full motion video, text, and graphics, but will be user-friendly and not require computer skills to operate. They will promote businesses and services in each local community and will be strategically placed in each of the seven urban areas taking part in the program. CPAs from the Society's Westchester Chapter will join representatives from companies and other organizations to provide one-on-one consultations during the seminar series. Participants include the following Westchester members: Alan Badey, Barbara E. Bell, Anne Colucci, Robert Ecker, Don Kiamie, Sandra A. Napoleon, Jeffrey Schwartz, Frank Sisco, and Barry Steinfink. * |
