Message From the President By Joe Falbo, Buffalo Chapter President I realize that it is the time of the year when you are all getting busier, so I will try to be brief. As you are all aware, nonprofit agencies around the country have an increased need for board members with financial experience. Aspire of Western New York, Inc., is looking for an individual with a financial background to serve on its board of directors. Aspire serves individuals with developmental disabilities, which include conditions causing mental or physical limitations that occur before the age of 22. Aspire also provides services and support to people who are challenged physically and cognitively as a result of traumatic brain injuries, strokes, hearing or visual impairment, as well as other disabling conditions. If you are interested in serving the WNY community and a very worthy organization, please visit www.aspirewny.org or call Dee Bellanti, 716-857-6382, for more information. While I am on the subject of volunteerism, I would like to highlight an individual who has done an outstanding job for our chapter. Mike Cassell is in his first year as chair of the Cooperation with the Bar Association Committee and he is doing an outstanding job. He has reenergized this committee, and last month held a successful joint CPE and dinner meeting for almost 40 participants. Pardon me for stating the obvious, but working with members of the Bar is an important part of our professional lives, and Mike’s committee provides many useful opportunities to build relationships with our friends in the legal profession. Please stay tuned for upcoming joint events, and thank you again to Mike for all of his hard work. I would like to wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday season! Joe Falbo can be reached at 716-285-5276, 716-852-5400 or jfalbo@sfmcpa.com. |
