POP Program Revamped

By Monte Kaplan, Associate Director of Education Services

It is now easier than ever for companies and individuals to sign up for CPE courses using FAE’s simple and cost-effective Pay-One-Price (POP) discount program. With the POP Pass, holders can save on all CPE conferences and seminars and pay significantly less than what it would cost them if they were paying the full price for each event individually.

The new POP Pass includes virtually no surcharges, affordable prices with no increase, and no service fees.

The program was recently revamped after a survey of current and previous POP Pass holders revealed certain aspects that could be tweaked in order to improve the service. The real hot-button issue turned out to be the need for the option of online registration. Previously, Pass holders were issued a 10-coupon booklet through the mail. The vouchers would then have to be mailed back to FAE two weeks in advance of the desired course.

Now Pass holders receive a letter from FAE with a list of 10 unique POP ticket numbers that they can use to register for courses on the Internet via the POP registration page on the Society’s Web site, as well as via phone, fax or mail. This nod to the paperless age also eliminates the need for a $25 penalty to replace lost coupon books.

Each ID number can be redeemed for one eight-hour, full-day FAE program or two four-hour programs both held at the same location on the same day or other days. Though POP walk-ins are still not permitted, and POP registrations still must be received two weeks in advance of an event, online enrollment greatly facilitates the process.

Also in the past, a $50 fee was charged to attend conferences, but this surcharge has been eliminated. The only event with an added fee will be this month’s all-day Investment Partnership Conference. However, POP “no-shows” for an event will be billed $50.

FAE is also currently offering an Early Bird Special. Companies and individuals who purchase their Pass by November 30 will save $100 off the total price of the pass.

Individual passes can be used only by the person whose name appears on the initial registration form. Company passes must remain within a single firm and cannot be transferred if an employee switches jobs.

FAE offers an exiting array of CPE events and seminars throughout New York state. For more information regarding the new and improved POP discount program or for details about current FAE courses, contact FAE Customer Services at 800-537-3635 or visit the Society’s Web site at www.nysscpa.org.
