Exciting Events on the Horizon By Dave Herman, Rockland Chapter President Welcome to the fall season. I’d like to thank everyone for the great showing at the Yankee game outing on Sept. 20. We had about 40 people, rented a bus, gave them dinner, and all had a wonderful time at the game. Kudos to Mike Seidenberg, our president-elect, for making all the arrangements and leading the group. Mike is working on an all-day outing to the Baseball Hall of Fame in the spring. Look for details in the next few months. Over the next few weeks, we have a number of upcoming chapter events. In the first week of November, we are planning a 2-hour CPE session on long-term care. Nov. 9, we have our annual Town Hall Meeting and 2-hour Ethics seminar. This event is being held at Beth Carrie’s restaurant in New City. The only charge is for dinner. On Nov. 16, we are having our annual All-Day Tax Conference. This year’s event is being held at the Comfort Inn in Nanuet. We are also very excited about our upcoming networking event. This year we have decided to move the event from October to December. It is now being held on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at Beth Carrie’s Restaurant. We are combining the networking event with our annual Toys for Tots drive. We ask that all attendees bring an unwrapped toy. We have also moved away from our usual political speaker and will have the Vice President and Controller of the NY Mets, Mr. Leonard Labita, as our presenter. Mr. Labita joined the Mets in 1995 as Controller and was named Vice President in 2003. Mr. Labita will have plenty of giveaways, and we will have some additional door prizes to award. He will be giving a short talk on the business of baseball as well. This should be an exciting event, and we encourage people to come out. Fliers will be mailed and e-mailed throughout November. On Dec. 15, we are having a Blood Drive at the New City Jewish Center from 4:00 to 9:30 p.m. Please try to make it and help out by donating blood. This is a great cause, and we need to support it. Thanks to our Treasurer David Friehling for organizing this. As we move into the new year, we are planning our annual IRS and NYS visitation in early January. I would also like to say thank you to our Chapter Secretary Mitchell Gusler and our board members Phylis Graybow, Bill Hughes and Elliot Roth, who are all helping to plan our upcoming CPE breakfast covering Eldercare and Medicaid. We have a lot going on and are always looking for assistance. Please contact any of the above-named officers or board members with any ideas you may have for future events.
