2004–2005 Nominating Committee Chosen; Chair Appointed How to Contact the Nominating Committee By
Raymond M. Nowicki, CPA, NYSSCPA Secretary The candidates elected to the 2004–2005 Nominating Committee and their respective vote counts are Rosemarie A. Barnickel (1,688), Warren M. Bergstein (1,380), Robert Fagliarone (1,576), Peter H. Frank (1,496), Arnold L. Haskell (1,473), Stanley M. Heller (1,412), Ronald J. Huefner (1,525), Martin Leventhal (1,387), and Walter M. Primoff (1,495). The next nearest candidate received 1,195 votes. In addition to the nine Nominating Committee members who petition to serve on the Nominating Committee, the Society’s bylaws require that the NYSS-CPA Board of Directors designate two of its members to serve on the committee each year. At the board’s Sept. 22 meeting, it conducted a secret ballot to identify this year’s designees and selected Spencer L. Barback and Arthur Bloom to round out the committee’s membership. NYSSCPA President John J. Kearney appointed Fagliarone to chair the Nominating Committee. The president’s power to appoint the Nominating Committee chair and the expansion of the committee from nine to 11 members were two of the bylaw changes approved by the membership in 2003. Ballots were designed to permit voters to indicate a preference for up to nine candidates. Some voted for one candidate, others for the full nine. The votes were tallied and certified by Vanguard Direct, an independent vote-tabulation service engaged by the Society. This year’s Nominating Committee will nominate a president-elect, three vice presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, five at-large directors, and directors from the Adirondack, Brooklyn, Nassau, Rochester, Staten Island and Suffolk chapters. The committee must receive expressions of interest before Jan. 13, the date the bylaws require them to meet. Contact Information The 2004–2005 Nominating Committee can be reached by e-mail at nominations@nysscpa.org. CPA members interested in serving as directors or officers of the Society should contact one or more Nominating Committee members as soon as possible, as the committee will meet Jan. 13 to make its nominations. The committee requests that before placing your name or that of another in nomination, you confirm that you or the other candidate is willing and able to serve. Also, the committee asks that you submit a resume for the candidate. |
