Message
From the President
By Z. Joseph Tax, Westchester Chapter President This is the fourth president’s message I am writing and I’m finally getting the hang of it. When I first sat down to write it many months ago, I felt like a 10-year-old camper being forced to write home to mom and dad. Well, I’m past that. I actually looked forward to writing the letter this month, and enjoy getting feedback from the members who take time to read our section in Chapter Newsletters. Another month has gone by and all our planning has paid off. We have a full calendar of events planned for you. In November, we are looking forward to Preparing for Year End on the 13th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains. On Nov. 14, we are getting together for “Swing” at the Westchester Dinner Theatre, and on Nov. 20, our annual Officers Visitation and Ethics CPE take us back to the Crowne Plaza in White Plains. On Dec. 15, the Westchester All-Day Tax Conference will be held at the Citigroup Executive Planning Center in Armonk. If you haven’t already reserved for the above events, please do so. Last month’s Electronic Filing seminar was well attended. Nearly 50 CPAs stayed until 9:00 p.m. to hear the latest updates from the IRS and the New York State Society of CPAs. I really enjoyed it, and just about every CPA there wanted a follow-up on how to implement electronic filing, especially with regard to payroll returns. I know that if I paid the deposits for my clients from my office electronically, it would certainly save me time and some of the anxiety involved in not knowing whether or not the client paid on time. I again want to thank the board members, chairs and their committees for their help and cooperation in organizing the various events. Z.
