Rochester Chapter Hosts Annual Officers Visitation and Clambake Meeting

By Bill Dresnack, Rochester Chapter President

The Rochester Chapter held its 6th annual Officers Visitation and Clambake meeting on Oct. 7 at the Monroe Golf Club in Pittsford. Approximately 220 members and students attended the function, which was sponsored by KeyBank. Those in attendance were treated to an outstanding series of presentations, beginning with former State Society President and current Board Member Jo Ann Golden’s discussion of ethics issues currently affecting practicing CPAs.

Attendees also extracted insightful and valuable information from a presentation by KeyBank’s Debra Daugherty, senior district security officer, and Anne Chandler, vice president of cash management. Their discussion, “Bank Tools to Assist CPAs in Finding and Preventing Fraud,” offered useful and timely information that chapter members will be able to immediately put to great use in their practices. It was also an opportunity for members to meet the new Rochester district KeyBank President Len Hess, who recently relocated from Seattle.

The evening continued with the incredible buffet that the clambake and Monroe Golf Club have become famous for, including tenderloin, a wonderful pasta bar and, of course, clams. State Society President Jeff Hoops and Executive Director Lou Grumet shared their knowledge of the current status of Society activities and legislation affecting our profession. They
reminded all us that a contribution to CPA-PAC will go a long way toward helping ensure the continued prestige, recognition and influence our profession deserves.

The evening concluded with inductions into the Chapter Hall of Fame and recognition for two student scholarship winners. It was, as expected, one of our chapter’s great annual events.
