5th Annual IRS Seminar for Tax
On Dec. 1, over 150 tax professionals and Long Island University (LIU) students attended the Fifth Annual IRS Seminar for Tax Professionals, hosted by the Accounting Society at the LIU Brooklyn Campus. The highly successful seminar was sponsored by the Brooklyn Chapter in coordination with the Internal Revenue Service.
Dean Mohammed Ghriga introduced luncheon speaker Martha E. Stark, Esq., New York City Finance Commissioner, to a very receptive audience.
The day’s speakers also included Director of North Atlantic IRS Examinations William Marshall; IRS Collection Territory Manager Stephen Levy; RSM McGladrey Inc. Managing Partner Marvin Antman; Operation Manager for Centralized OIC Dorothy Owens; CPA and attorney in private practice Suzanne Ascher; Senior Bank Secrecy Act Analyst Elizabeth Witzgall; CPA and attorney in private practice Alan Straus; Brooklyn Chapter President, LIU Adjunct Professor and Principal in Adelman Katz & Mond LLP Warren Bergstein; IRS Office of Chief Counsel Senior Attorney Patricia Riegger, and LIU Professor Emeritus of Accounting Philip Wolitzer, who also served as program moderator.
Past Brooklyn Chapter President and Advisor to the LIU Accounting Society Dr. Myrna L. Fischman helped to organize this well-attended and informative event.
A big thank-you also goes out to students Stacy Guyak and Deepak Roy and LIU Accounting Society Past President Roberto Araujo. Without their involvement, this event would not have been possible.
And special appreciation to alumna and past president of the Accounting Society Marta Tale, of Medallion Business Credit, LLC, for her help in making this event the success that it was.
