Message From the President By Robert R. Ritz, Utica Chapter President Greetings, everyone. I hope you had a great holiday season and are ready to get into the swing of things with tax season upon us. Our chapter has been busy the past couple of months. In October, we hosted a young CPAs social event at Tom Cavallo’s in Utica, and in November, we had our Officers Visitation and Ethics Seminar at The Beeches of Rome. Our chapter has also responded to the Society’s effort to get each chapter involved in a high school outreach program. The program is designed to get high school students interested in the accounting profession. Melissa Hanba and Galina Staskevich, accountants with D’Arcangelo & Co., LLP, have traveled to local high schools in our area to talk with students about the accounting profession and becoming a CPA. Melissa and Galina explain to the students that becoming a CPA can provide them with an exciting career, and talk about the various types of employment opportunities that are available. We have had a great response from the teachers and the students, and hopefully have encouraged some of the students to look further into accounting as a profession. Please let me know if you would like to get involved with this effort. Here’s wishing everyone a great tax season. Robert Ritz can be reached at 315-336-9220 or rritz@darcangelo-cny.com. |
