Web Notes By Craig Mandelbaum, Web Manager This month we remind NYSSCPA.org users that they can access all Society information through the website using our search engine. The search engine is available on the upper left corner of each page. Users simply have to type in a keyword that relates to the information they are looking for and click the “Go” button. Results are listed in chronological order, 10 to a page, and include a page title, website address, link and an abstract briefly describing the page. To see more results, simply click the “Next 10 documents” button at the bottom of the results page. You can also return to the previous list of results by clicking the “Previous 10 documents” button. Also at the bottom of each results page, you will see how many pages of results are available for your query, and which page you are currently viewing. For more detailed searches, use the Advanced Search option. This feature is available through a link under the search box on each page, or by directly accessing the page at www.nysscpa.org/search.htm. Through the Advanced Search, you can narrow your search scope using such categories as chapters, conferences, The Trusted Professional, The CPA Journal or News Archive. The Advanced Search page also offers tips on making searches easier, such as using quotes, “and”, “or” and “*”. By the Numbers November was well on its way to breaking October’s records, but the Thanksgiving holiday appears to have interfered, with the last week resulting in low numbers. The site finished with the second-highest visit total for one month, at 168,835. Still, single-day records were set, as on Tuesday, Nov. 18, when the site recorded 7,542 visits. For that week, the site recorded 43,499 visits, also a record. In fact, the site saw 12 days of 7,000+ visits, including the top five visit days of all time (7,542; 7,517; 7,448; 7,431, and 7,350). The site also recorded well over 577,360 page views and 3.34 million hits. |
