Society Creates HR Committee, Updates Travel Reimbursement Policy At its Aug. 26 meeting, the Society’s Executive Committee approved the creation of a human resources committee and updated the Society’s travel reimbursement policy. As a result of much interest in recruiting and retention expressed at the Society’s 2005 Leadership Conference, held in July at the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, N.Y., the Executive Committee created a Human Resources Committee for members with interest in human resources management. This new committee will discuss issues such as current developments in practice matters, labor law, compensation and employee benefits, and recruiting and retention, among many other topics. As with all Society committees, this will allow an additional forum for members with similar interests to share experiences and network with their peers. It is an opportunity to get involved in the Society, express your ideas, build leadership skills and gain recognition and exposure. If you are interested in joining this committee, please contact Nereida Gomez, Senior Manager of Committee Services, at 212-719-8358, or via e-mail at ngomez@nysscpa.org, or apply now online by visiting www.nysscpa.org (click on “Find Committees” on the left side of the page, and then click on the Committee Application link). You can also view the committee’s action plan on the Web site by clicking on the committee’s name. In other action, after review of the current policy on travel reimbursement, the Executive Committee amended the policy to include a time limit for when requests for reimbursements can be submitted. Under the newly revised policy, members must submit a travel reimbursement request within six months after the date of the meeting to which the request applies, or reimbursement will be denied. The Executive Committee also reaffirmed the expense limits on lodging at $200 (plus tax) and on meals and incidentals at $51 for the 2006 fiscal year, which are the same rates as for fiscal 2005. The limits are based on the U.S. Government Services Administration’s reimbursement rates for Manhattan. |
