Advancing Surgery Beyond the Human Hand

Please join the Members in Industry Committee of the NYSSCPA’s Northeast Chapter for an informative discussion on Oct. 27 with Dr. Michael Moran, who is leading the way for surgical robotics at St. Peter’s Hospital. Also, James Gavin, newly appointed Chief Financial Officer of St. Peter’s, will be on hand to discuss the current financial challenges in the health-care arena. After the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on demonstration of the da Vinci system, which uses robotic technology.
As many hospitals focus on achieving a balance between providing patients with the very best health-care services possible in a comfortable environment and the cost of providing state-of-the-art services, one local hospital is leveraging the latest technology to meet the demand. St. Peter’s Hospital is the capital region’s first hospital using the new da Vinci Surgical System to further its work in the area of minimally invasive surgery. The da Vinci system uses robotic technology to achieve precision and consistence in surgical procedures.
One of only four hospitals in upstate New York that offer such technology, St. Peter’s Hospital has significantly impacted the lives of all those who turn to them for surgical procedures.
As a result of this new robotic surgical technology, patients have experienced the following benefits: reduced trauma, need for less anesthesia, less blood loss, significantly reduced postoperative pain and discomfort, less risk of infection, shorter hospital stay, less scarring, and faster recovery and return to normal daily activities.
