Keeping Busy

By Warren M. Bergstein, Brooklyn Chapter President

Our chapter calendar for October is full.

A joint meeting with the Bronx/Manhattan Chapter on the subject of Gift and Estate Taxes on Oct. 20 will be followed one week later by the Annual Town Hall meeting with representatives of the State Society. The same evening you will have the opportunity to be brought up to date on ethics in our profession.

Also this month, Pat Wright will lead our chapter through Prospect Park for the Annual Walk for Breast Cancer.

We try to keep you up to date on our activities through The Trusted Professional, but also hope to increase your knowledge of the chapter’s activities through regular mailings. If you are not on our mailing list, contact Michael Smith, chapter secretary. Mike’s e-mail address is mikensmith@nyc.rr.com.

We are pleased to congratulate our former chapter president Myrna Fischman on once again becoming Chair of the Department of Accounting, Taxation and Law at Long Island University.

We all enjoyed our night at Keyspan Park watching the Brooklyn Cyclones. Only a few remained to see the Cyclones win in the 11th inning, but we all had a great time.

Be sure to hold the date. Dec. 1 is our annual tax conference, with representatives from the Internal Revenue Service and New York state and New York City tax authorities. The event lasts all day, with breakfast, lunch and great handout materials included.

I hope to see you at all of our meetings.
