Message From the President

By Don Kiamie, Westchester Chapter President

A few words can mean so much. And I find it ironic that, as the incoming president of the Westchester Chapter, I asked Sandy Napoleon-Hudson to say a few words on my behalf, not knowing that in a few months, I would try to do the same for her (and her husband Bill) as she embarks on a new adventure in Georgia.

Sandy has meant so much as a person, colleague and student of mine. As a person, her kindness and encouragement to other people was simple but effective. As a colleague, she was so vocal in her support of the CPA profession, the Society and the Westchester Chapter. She made me proud to be an associate of hers. As a student, we all know that she got an “A” in Advanced Accounting.

Since Sandy joined the Society in 1989, she has made an impact on our chapter and on the state level as well. She filled all of Westchester’s leadership roles, starting as secretary in 1995 and becoming chapter president in 1999. She also took on committee roles with enthusiasm, as chair and director of our Government Relations Committee and as a member of our Board of Directors, Furtherance Committee, Education and Programming Committee and as a PAC Representative.

Sandy parlayed her chapter work into attaining noteworthy positions at the state level as well. In addition to holding a spot on the Society’s Board of Directors for four years, Sandy served on the Society’s Political Action, Executive, Awards, Professional Ethics, Finance, Nominating, Annual Leadership Conference, Chapter Relations, Legislation, Cooperation with Community Businesses, Furtherance, Public Relations and Education in Colleges and Universities committees as well as on a Bylaws Revisions Task Force.

Through the years, working with Sandy has been a wonderful time, a valuable time and a memorable experience.

On behalf of Westchester Chapter members, your friends and colleagues, Sandy, I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors!
