Message From the President By Lauren L. Kincaid, Syracuse Chapter President Our annual summer sizzler, on August 18 at Hinerwadel’s Grove, offered members three hours of CPE before kicking back with a clambake sponsored by Partners Trust Municipal Bank (see photos below). Over 100 people came for the CPE, and almost 200 came for the clams! I would like to thank Partners Trust for their continued support of this annual event. At the event, three local tax practitioners—Mark Reid, of Firley, Moran, Freer & Eassa, PC (mreid@fmfecpa.com), Kathy Kaminski, of Green & Seifter CPAs, PLLC (kkaminski@greenseifter.com), and Paula Deckman, of Testone, Marshall & Discenza, LLP (pdeckman@tmdtech.com)—brought everybody up to date on their participation in the IRS Practitioner Liaison program. Mark, Kathy and Paula are the program’s Syracuse representatives. If you need any help with unresolved issues with the IRS, please feel free to contact them via e-mail. Gerry Stack, Esq., Hancock & Estabrook, LLP, also spoke. He discussed the use of Family Limited Partnerships as an estate planning tool, and limited liability companies. We have several upcoming events in October and November. Oct. 20 will be the annual Officers Visitation luncheon, at Bellevue Country Club, followed by a free two-hour ethics CPE program. Later that evening we’re having our annual student awards dinner at Le Moyne College. As current president-elect of the Syracuse Chapter, Gail Kinsella, Testone, Marshall & Discenza, LLP (gkinsella@tmdcpas.com), is coordinating this event. Please look for the flyer regarding firm sponsorship of tables for the awards dinner. This is a great recruiting opportunity for local firms. We look forward to everyone’s continued support for this event. Please contact Gail if you have any questions about the Officers Visitation or the Student Awards Dinner. Also look for information relating to the annual tax conference on Nov. 10 from Rick Shaw, our chapter’s vice president. Finally, look for flyers from the Young CPAs Committee for upcoming networking events. I think that does it for this month. Hope everyone takes time to enjoy the beautiful fall season in upstate New York before preparing for another upstate New York winter. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns and/or suggestions you might have for the chapter. Lauren Kincaid can be reached at 315-472-7045 or lkincaid@fmfecpa.com. |
